A Good, Great and Chief Shepherd

"The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." (Psalm 23)

I give thanks again today for the truth that Christ Jesus is my...

GOOD SHEPHERD (John 10:1-18)

GREAT SHEPHERD (Hebrews 13:20-21)

CHIEF SHEPHERD (1 Peter 5:1-4)

I do not need to walk around in the "wilderness of want" because of who I am in Christ Jesus and this is true for His church as well.

Thanks for these thoguhts on the the Shepherd of our souls.
Another site mentioned that the sequence of Psalms 22, 23 and 24 shows us the Messiah as the Good Shephred who died fo the sheep (Ps 22), the Great Shpehered who cares for the sheep (Ps 23), and the Chief Shephderd who will return to take the sheep to glory (Ps 24).
You have to know the Christ that died for you before You can know the Christ who protects and provides for you or the Christ who is coming back with rewards for you.
Another way of looking at the Shepherd triology is that Psalm 22 is what the Good Shephered did; Psalm 23 is what the Great Shephered is doing now; and Psalm 24 is what the Cheif Shephered will do in the future.
